OVERVIEW:

There has been and continues to be a lot of “confusion” and uncertainty about the precise role or “function” of a one-to-one staff person who is assigned to/for a supported person, usually in response to the exhibition of a high frequency or intensity of challenging, potentially dangerous behavior(s).  This webinar will assist participants in understanding how to utilize this additional staffing to its maximum benefit.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to

  • Participants will be able to identify three historical roles/perspectives of an assigned “one-to-one” staff person.
  • Participants will be able understand and articulate the difference between a one-to-one who operates from a proactive/prevention-based model versus a reactive/response-based model.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least three methods of developing “fading procedures” to break the long-term dependency on the assignment of a one-to-one staff person.
