Organizational Performance Engineering is the application of behavior analysis to change how people work together so that every client or student makes efficient progress. Organizational Performance Engineering is a pragmatic change process because it evaluates student and client progress and when a student or client is not making efficient progress identifies causes of provider performance problems, and recommends changes in the design and implementation of provider resources, training, and management.

The EARS process of Organizational Performance Engineering has the following steps: 1) Evaluate client or student progress; 2) Analyze causes of provider performance; 3) Recommend changes in provider resources, training, and management; and 4) Solve provider performance problems by designing and implementing recommended changes in resources, training, and management.

This webinar series will be offered in three parts.

Part 1 will teach participants how to evaluate client and student progress using sensitive measures of performance and progress.

Part 1 Objectives include:

  • Define student and client desired products.
  • Design useful measures of current products.
  • Evaluate current products to identify product deficits.
  • Define necessary student and client performance.
  • Design useful measures of current performance.
  • Evaluate current performance in order to identify performance deficits.
  • Design and evaluate sensitive measures of client progress.

Part 2 will teach participants how to analyze causes of provider performance problems and recommend changes in provider resources, training, and management.

Part 2 Objectives include:

  • Use provider and recipient measures to classify provider performance problems as:
    • Can-Do problems due to inadequate resources.
    • Know-How problems due to inadequate training.
    • Want-To problems due to inadequate management.
  • Use provider and recipient measures to identify the causes of provider Can-Do, Know-How, and Want-To problems.
    • Analyze provider resources to identify causes of Can-Do problems.
    • Analyze provider training to identify cause of Know-How problems.
    • Analyze provider management to identify causes of Want-To problems.
  • Repeat provider analysis for each provider level, beginning with teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, and parent, then their supervisors, staff trainers, and program designers.
  • Use analysis data to recommend changes to provider resources, training, and management.
    • Use analysis data to recommend changes in provider resources.
    • Use analysis data to recommend changes in provider training.
    • Use analysis data to recommend changes in provider management.

Part 3 will teach participants how to design and implement recommended solutions.

  • Design efficient provider resources.
