Earn 2 BACB Learning CEUs! Suited for BCBAs & BCaBAs! That's up to 4 CEUs for attending both sessions!

This two-part workshop is geared toward BCBAs who utilize or want to utilize functional assessment and treatment in their practice.

Session 2 of the workshop will focus on implementing functional assessment and treatment in your practice, with a focus on using Dr. Greg Hanley’s FA interview tool (from PFA/IISCA) to design effective assessment and treatments. Participants may attend session 1 only, or both sessions.

Session 2 (ONLY available to those who attend Session 1):

  • Assessment process- how do we do it
    • Early stages: observation, record review, consent
    • Using Hanley’s FA interview tool
    • Writing assessment protocol
    • Running a functional analysis
    • Interpreting results
  • Function-based treatment
    • Writing treatment protocol based on assessment results
    • General treatment considerations and design
    • Implementing treatment
    • Assessing treatment results
    • Generalizing treatment gains

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this series, participants will be able to accurately:

Session 2 (ONLY available to those who attend Session 1):

  1. Explain the general process of functional assessment from initial observation to determining the function of a behavior
  2. Be familiar with Hanley’s functional assessment interview tool to inform analysis conditions
  3. Design a functional analysis for a hypothetical client
  4. Interpret functional analysis results
  5. Utilize functional analysis results to inform treatment design
  6. Explain the essential parts of function-based treatment
  7. Interpret function-based treatment results to determine whether treatment is effective
  8. Describe at least 2 strategies for generalizing function based treatment gains
